The Rev. Aloysius V. Raggio of the University of Santa Clara was a beloved priest in the town of Santa Clara. He said masses at St. Clare's Church and also served as a chaplain at Agnew State Hospital. St. Clare's Gate was erected in his honor.

Cross from Mission Santa Clara, erected on bank of Rio Guadalupe by Padre Tomas de la Pena, January 12, 1777. This cross was moved to each successive mission site. In 1878, the cross was encased, and recased again after storm damage in 1902.
