Pioneer of 1841. Josiah Belden (1815-1892) was the first Mayor of San Jose. Born May 4, 1815 in upper Middletown, Conn. Married Sarah Jones on Feb. 1, 1849. Died April 23, 1892.
Louis Pellier (1812-1872) was a native of Hippolite, France. He introduced the French prune to the Santa Clara Valley. This photograph was taken in Paris.
